Astrid vs. the Asteroid |
What’s the point of knowing the future if you can’t change it?
Astrid vs. the Asteroid is a young adult science fiction book set in the near future in Portland, Oregon, told from the perspective of a teen girl who can predict the future, and receives visions of an asteroid hurtling towards earth after a solar eclipse. Astrid is complete at 85k words. Astrid Moore is a typical teenager. She lives in a trailer park with her divorced mom. She works as a hostess at the Pancake Palace. She has a crush on a busboy named Tikal Guzman. She lives an extremely normal life, except for one thing that sets her apart from her peers: she can predict the future. And those predictions usually don’t end well for her or the people around her. During the most hyped solar eclipse of the century, she receives visions of an asteroid hurtling towards earth. As the visions ramp up in intensity, so does her budding romantic relationship with Tik, and the abusive relationship with her mom’s creepy boyfriend, Luke. Astrid desperately wants to warn the people around her about both, but she learned long ago that the worst part about being able to predict the future, is that no one believes you. Especially if you’re a girl. PUBLISHING TBA |
